Welcome from Commodities People

KEYNOTE
Welcome from Chairperson and outlining the conference theme Collaboration + Standardisation = Progress

Energy trading operations and technology are in the process of change. Rather than simply being responsive to challenges and pressures, the sector is actively developing new standards, processes and digital strategies through both individual companies and cross industry initiatives, at levels unseen for the last 10 years.

The theme of ETOT2019 is – Collaboration + Standardisation = Progress. How can we move faster as an industry? What are the new and historical challenges we face? What initiatives are ongoing which have the potential to make the sector a more efficient environment for all? How can we ensure that our processes and technologies can keep up with rapidly evolving market changes? With all the background noise, where can we see real meaningful change?

GROUP DISCUSSION
Only by working together can we drive the industry forward – A success story of intercompany cooperation and how you can also benefit

An outcome of ETOT 2018 was the impromptu creation of an informal ‘self help’ group of Italian energy trading firms to cooperate together in overcoming the challenges of mandatory e-invoicing.1 year on the results have been dramatic time savings and efficiency improvements for all involved parties, and the broadening of scope to cover other and emerging operational and technological challenges.

This short practical discussion will provide a roadmap as to how your organisations might similarly benefit, concluding the day in table based discussions.
